I Love LA

From I Love LA

Hello All,

Roch and I just got back from a most excellent weekend in LA. Di and Pasternack, our lovely hostesses, took us to cool parties, dope hang out sessions, rad cafes, and Disneyland. Woot! Woot!

Straight up, it was one of the most fun weekends I’ve ever had.

Let’s start with Friday … I hustle out of work on a warm Fall evening, b-lining it straight to BART.

Rocci and I meet up on the train, rolling down to SFO as the sun began to set on the bay.

It was very nice.

We grabbed beers and started the party while waiting at the gate.

Dude!

From I Love LA

… enjoying a couple more cold ones on the flight.

(this is us tripping out on the physics of flying.)

Being the rad ass hostess that she is, Di picked us up at LAX, giving us a bonus tour of south LA on our way to the party. She hella faked like she was lost … But being born and raised in LA, we knew that she had to be messing with us, and wanted to give us a quick once over of Hawthorn.

From I Love LA

The party was pretty crazy for this nor-cal blogger … But attending the shin dig with our LA posse made it a ridiculously cool experience.

Word.

Now on to Saturday. I chilled out at Di’s pad, enjoying a wonderful view of downtown.

From I Love LA

… Lounging around in her and Jo’s very tasteful living room.

Nice, very nice. (I especially like the green paint in the kitchen.)

The five of us then walked out into the 138 degree east LA weather, hipstering it up all the while …

Yo.

From I Love LA

We had sausages at this place that only serves sausage and beer. A brilliant idea, truly brilliant.

🙂

Okay. Now it’s game time … We rolled to Disneyland in the evening, and I got a chance to pull out the Silver Pass. Holy Shit … I mean seriously, holy shit. The pass got all four of us into the park for free (tickets would’ve been $101 a pop) and in addition got us discounts and free parking.

Probably the greatest job perk I have ever had.

From I Love LA

Our first stop was at Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln.

He was a true American, and I made certain that the group was amply patriotic for the rest of the day.

From I Love LA

Inside was a small museum of Disneyland. It’s magic.

From I Love LA

And outside we posed with photos of other great Americans.

From I Love LA

Legit.

From I Love LA

So we mosey along Main Street, basking in the wonderfulness of it all.

Seriously, it is magic.

… Making sure to keep the silliness up.

Naturally.

From I Love LA

I know that this is a total cliche and all, but being there made me totally feel like a kid again.

There, I said it already. And we can get on with the pics and the fun now.

🙂

A dude comped us a free fast pass. Seriously! It was too ridiculous to be true.

We used it for Indiana Jones. Stoked.

From I Love LA

The whole park was decked out in Halloween garb.

Cool.

After a few hours, we hopped over to California Adventure Park.

… Making sure to pay homage to the great franchise of Cars.

… Yes, they are very stoked for Cars 2.

From I Love LA

We then mozied over to a super fun white water rapids ride.

From I Love LA

… getting a little wet, but totally having a blast.

From I Love LA

We also had shots at CA Adventure. I approve of this.

From I Love LA

… Indeed, if Disneyland represents American wholesomeness, this park does an equally spectacular job of embodying Golden State awesomeness.

From I Love LA

Our last ride at the park may have been my favorite of the day.

The Wings of Fame ride basically changed my life it was so good. The world needs more of it.

🙂 🙂

To finish the night off we went back to Disneyland, hitting up MJ’s Captain EO.

What Up!

From I Love LA

And the park was glowing.

Literally.

From I Love LA

As the night wore down, the lines became hella reasonable, letting us knock out Pirates of the Caribbean in like 7 minutes.

From I Love LA

It was still great standing in lines though.

From I Love LA

And at 11:30 we got the brilliant idea to go on Splash Mountain.

From I Love LA

I got soaked. C’est la vie.

So … The clock neared midnight, and we strolled back to our charriot.

From I Love LA

Riding the Toy Story 3 bus …

Yes!

From I Love LA

I even got to knock out a little chess tutorial with Laffite. It was very nice of him to play like a dozen games with me, showing me each time what a solid mating position looks like.

Dude, you’re nails.

Di and I cruised around Little Tokyo this morning.

It was pure city.

From I Love LA

… And, giving your blogger a chance to totally eat his anti-printer words, we were able to successfully knock out hard copies of our boarding pass thanks to our hostesses skills.

Word.

From I Love LA

We watched the 1st half of the Chargers game. And they played horribly.

So I asked Di to pose here in the hopes that she would send good luck to my Bolts.

From I Love LA

At halftime we cruised over to LAX.

From I Love LA

Catching the fourth quarter of the game as we boarded the plane.

From I Love LA

… We didn’t watch the end though, as our flight was literally boarding in the above pic.

Oh well. The dudes lost.

… Okay, and now we are back in SF … And the airport is totally getting hyphy on us.

From I Love LA

… Strolling back up to the pad …

From I Love LA

Back to our homeys.

Back to our home.

From I Love LA

But, even though I am totally Nor Cal these days, and have adopted the Bay Area as my home … Spending the last 48 hours down south has totally reminded me how great our state’s other half is … Indeed, I Love LA.
