Attending your first wedding as a married couple is something truly special. And if that wedding is Pk and Ak’s … Well then it is off the charts special. Di’s best friend Anet married one of the radder dudes I know, Peter. Another LA wedding, and another epic party where the commune got back together in celebration of two wonderful souls.
Our story starts where it would naturally start, DTLA.
Jo and Laffy’s … So much life has come through there.
It’s been the center of so many ppl’s lives over the years. Weddings, holidays, surprises, games … Pretty much all the cool stuff that we get to do, we get to do it there. Love it.
… Okay … So if you have been to my wedding or Jo’s wedding, then you know about the epic, bringing-down-the-house style toasts that these girls put on. Anet has been in the first two, and this one, the grand finale, was poised to be ridiiiiiiculous.
The girls practiced diligently.
So Anet is really into making these giant masks. And in honor of her hobby, Di and Jo made 260+ masks (one for every member of the wedding) that we could all hold up when the big toast was going down.
It’s hard to describe how high the bar is for this maid of honor toast. You see … Di and Anet absolutely crushed it for Jo’s wedding last year. And then a few weeks back, Anet and Jo just blew the whole place up with their toast at our wedding. So … Seriously … This shit had to be amaaaaaaazing.
Early in the week, the dudes pitched in and cut some of the masks out (in between enjoying a cold beer here and there).
Ok. It’s the night before the wedding and we have a Pebek on our hands. It was my 3rd ever, and was totally stoked to get to be at another one.
Anet and Peter looked so great. What a rad event.
Kicked it with Jo’s oma.
Time for the rehearsal dinner now.
We went to Korean BBQ. Are you kidding me!!!??? What an absurdly excellent idea.
Your blogger’s mouth is watering at the memory of these delicious meats and crisp beers.
Friends began to assemble.
Cheer and merriment abound.
And the whole half the restaurant we had was just one big party.
I got sit next to their law school dean at dinner.
What a legit rad lady. We hit it off!
Party at Far Bar. Closed the place down. Rolled back home.
Stayed up wayyyy too late with these trouble makers.
But friggin loved it 🙂
I can only imagine what it was like that night for the bride and groom.
Ugh. I remember so vividly that same night for me. Alone in my hotel room, popping up at like four, taking in the profundity of it. Going through all the wedding machinery, but balancing that with the universal size of the day to come. It was awesome for me in every sense of the word … The night before I got to marry Di Won.
But … That’s passed … And for this wedding I slept totally fine, just stoking on the party to come.
Cruise to the venue.
Caught a glimpse of a truly stunning bride.
The ceremony begins.
My nieces — now pros — lead the procession as flower girls.
Damn! Here the man is.
PK, you are a solid dude! I couldn’t be happier for you. Marrying Anet!!! You won the friggin lottery with that woman. Hells YA!!! And as the husband of my wife’s best friend, we will get to kick it even more and that makes me stoked.
Check out that strut!
We got it in gif form!
They say I do. Joy erupts. The universe makes sense.
As we all go and enjoy a tasty cocktail, I got a chance to say what up to the bride.
Look at these woman. Wooooaaaaah.
This wedding was truly rad.
Di’s whole family was invited, so I even got to kick it with my uhmuni.
And the Suhs!
So grateful that I’ve gotten to know them better.
After our trip to Seattle this past summer, I see these people and a really genuine stoke occurs.
… And of course …
Di, you are the greatest thing to ever happen to me. Attending this wedding with you made me even more enthusiastic about being your husband. Here’s to a lifetime of parties!
Fan of the blog Ben Seeg and his lovely lady P_Nak were in attendance.
It’s been years since I’ve seen this pair, and it was just really wonderful catching up with the Texans!
What can I say about you people.
It’s always an adventure that’s full of awesome when I see you!
I gotta admit, I love the little details of a wedding. Those personal touches that they put on all this stuff to craft a really unique experience for all of us. And Anet / PK are both hella crafty and artsy and what not.
Check out my escort card.
So many great ppl here.
How many mohawks were in attendance you ask?
Not one …
PK and his dudes.
I got the best seat in the house that night.
Sat next to these dudes.
And this couple.
They just bring a smile to your blogger’s eyes every time we chill.
Okay … Dinner is done … Toasts commence.
Di and Jo!!! Brought the mutha fuckin house Down!!!
Four songs, two raps, ten minutes of non-stop entertainment. The masks. The costumes. Everything about these two was perfection.
And the audience!
We were on our feet stoking like no other.
Dancing and drinking and basking in a fitting finale to a trio of toasts that made each wedding an event like no other. You three – Di, Anet, Jo – you are just the greatest friends. What an excellent and kind and dope gesture these toasts. I’m gonna miss it, but more than that, I got to live it. And that’s awesome.
🙂 🙂 🙂
Toasts are done.
Time to get crazy.
What up commune.
A couple of namesakes here.
Gotta love how many family members Anet and PK brought into the wedding.
And this couple.
What can I say about them … ?
Well, I aint gonna say shit right now. Laffite is literally sitting next to me right now and he is watching me type this so I am not saying shit.
Hi uhmuni and ahbiji.
So stoked to get a selfie with Anet’s mom.
She is totally a homey of mine.
Ppl started to get drunk.
And all was good. (Especially being sandwiched between all this man.)
You are so much joy.
And these ladies.
HOT. DAMN. So many beautiful ppl here.
… My favorite …
So, I am sure you are all wondering who wins the award for the drunkest.
Like the Yankees winning the World Series, the Patriots winning the Super Bowl, FC Barcelona winning whatever it is that they win … The night’s award went to our perennial favorite, Jo.
Wedding details. It’s all in the details.
For a late night snack we got rammen.
Hit the spot like no other.
Di’s face …
Burrito buddies waiting for an uber.
It got legit cold.
After party …
Kind of like too much fun.
PK and AK,
Thank you so much for having me. Your wedding was like no other. I will never forget being a part of your day, and am truly grateful that we have you in our lives. I’ve only been married seven weeks, so don’t really have much advice for you all. But, if I can say anything about being married it’s this: enjoy the fuck out of it. You are both A+ humans, and that in and of itself is just the best way to start a life together. Here’s to decades of love and fun and friendship.
The new year is a few hours away.
The whole commune is posting up in this rad house in West Hills that legit looks like music videos were shot at. The view is ridic.
And as the last few hours of 2014 fade away, I can’t help but be filled with a sense of happiness and contentment. This has been the best year of my life, without a doubt. Much Love to every single one of you out there. Stay amazing.
