Hello All,
Your tireless blogger is switching it up big time from last weekend, trading in the swim cap for the keyboard, the bike for the beads, and am hacking away at RubyConf in New Orleans.
Okay, let’s start at the start. Wednesday morning I hop on an AM flight across the country.

And after a layover in Salt Lake City, was very stoked to hop on a plane to N.O.

Okay, so I get to my hotel and …
Damn! This place is ridiculous.
My bed is like wide enough for me to sleep on it from left to right.

So I drop off the gear and mob out to the French Quarter.
Didn’t end up seeing a crazy amount last night, but the few blocks I saw were rad. It feels hella like Disneyland down here. The architecture and the partying is just so perfect.

I ended up meeting these two dudes from Bend, OR (the place of my birth!) and another homey from Seattle.
Dudes, the Ruby community is just so my style. Such a welcoming, smart, anarchistic group of peeps.

I wake up to this on my door in the AM.

Being the eager beaver that I am, I just had to get a front row seat to Matz’s keynote.
I really liked it – Dude! I loved it – what an amazing experience to see the creator of my favorite programming language.
He speaks like his language feels. Terse, elegant, to the point, yet endearingly quirky.

Hung out and schmoozed and absorbed and stoked all day.
All the while enjoying the rad views from the balcony of the hotel.
