Hello All,

Mikey and I hit up a pretty crazy gig this evening. It was a noisebridge event called Five Minutes of Fame … There were ten speakers who each got 5 mins to talk about … well … to talk about anything.

Here’s a laundry list of what the talks were about:

This dude gave an awesome talk about how to not deliver a good speech at a tech conference. He was fucking hilarious.

This is one of the kids who started youropenbook.org which is a site where you can type in anything and it’ll return all of the public facebook status updates with the term you’re searching for.

She talked about a crazy old alphabet, and had the audience try and say each sound with her.

This guy was kinda’ crazy. He was trying to argue that there are these points in a Clapton song where Clapton loses his timing. (I didn’t fully grok this idea.)

She made a crazy dragon tapestry that took 2 and a half years to produce. I think it was pretty rad.

This dude probably gave the most interesting talk of the evening. He had facial reconstruction surgery a few months ago in order to make his face look more androgynous. He was real technical with the details of shaving down his jaw bone and adding volume to his cheeks and stuff like that.

A tutorial on the elements of a press release …

And this dude has a wild bio hacking group that he is trying to promote where they’re gonna do some stuff with cultures and things.

This one was about a radical economic theory where there’s no gov’t — only auditing companies (I have some buddies at PWC who’d be interested I imagine).

Now this dude was super friggin cool. He made a robot that is a sphere and can move around autonomously, as well as a robot that can cruise around a party and serve beer! Hells Ya!

She talked about the state of noisebridge and the community.

And the last talk of the night … These dudes made an iPhone app where the user can generate all kinds of crazy sounds and colors. Word.

… And of course, what post would be complete without a cameo from the Pontz.

He rolled in at the end of the event, but still came up to check out this whole noisebridge thing.
